We have our Board meeting on the last Tuesday of the month, 2016-2017 @ 5PM and our agency was awarded a grant for training in grant writing and non-profit managment fromt he Hoosie Martin foundatiion.
The DeSoto Police Jury provided funding for our agency by giving $30,000 to the ARC of Caddo-Bossier to provide training, expertise, and support to DeSoto Habilitation Services, Inc.

Desoto Habilitation Services,Inc. was founded on the idea of helping those with mental, physical and developmental disabilities. Ever since our organization was started on October 23, 1976, for the past 40 years, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest. We provide transportation, educational training, vocational training, employment, recreation, arts & crafts, field trips, community support and outreach. We advocate for people with disabilities, because we don't Just focus on disabilities, we focus on their abilities.
Our vision is to improve the quality of life of the people we serve with developmental disabilities.
Our mission is to provide exceptional community based and in-center services to those enrolled in our Day Habilitation center to make a difference in our community.
Our team is made up 10 dedicated Staff and seasonal student volunteers from Vo-Tech.
We have various businesses that are worked by our participants: Cookies & more we bake cakes, cookies and pies; we have a lawn service; we have a janitorial service; a ironing service and we shell peas and pecans. Let our folks receive your business.
Our Goals for 2016-2017: 1. Put our people first by providing exceptional service delivery, programs, and having great relationships with our participants & community. 2. Obtain additional funding thru fund raising, membership drives & grants for: equipement (new vans, copier, zero turn lawn mower, lawn equipement, furniture, computers, rec. equipment, etc.); operations; staff training; supplimental pay for staff) 3. Grow our businesses and establish new ones. 4.Obtain more community involment with families & thru our volunteer programs. 4. Start a speaker bureau. 5. Serve more participants. 6. Improve overall attendance of participants.
